I haven’t declared my major, yet. I’ve heard graduates with marketing, finance, and construction management degrees all tell me they have the best degree for the residential real estate development field but I’m throwing out this one to everyone too.

It depends on what aspect of Real Estate Development you want to work in.
Do you want to handle acquisition/project analysis? In that case, the developer is going to want someone with strong financial analytical skills. Finance.
Do you want to get into the actual project management? In that case construction management would be an ideal fit.
Do you want to start your own? In that case you will need to show your investors that you are dependable, smart, and capable. Experience will be more important in this case then which degree you choose.
There are a lot of areas you could focus on. Sales. Marketing. Entitlement. Etc. Just depends on what you want.
Good luck!
