short cake asked:
I don't mean dating relationships, I mean with relationships with people in general. I keep hearing from people in real estate that it's a "relationship-based business".

I think a lot of it depends on why you are bad at relationships (or why you think you are). There are classes that can teach you how to develop healthy client relationships. It would be up to you to decide if that career fits your skill-set and personality. Real estate has other jobs that are not people-oriented, such as appraisals, financing, multi-media, etc.

they are right. It doesn’t sound like sales is the job for you.

If you are “bad at relationships”, you will be a bad (and broke) real estate agent. Any job requires some people skills – if you feel you are bad at relationships, why don’t you work on your personality and the way you deal with others?

First off you will not be Getting into any Relationships when you are in Real Estate. If you can be Professional in your appearance and treat others with Respect, you can sell Real Estate! There is a BIG Diferrence between Sales and ” Relationships”. You will not be looking at forming a ” Long Term Relationship” in sales. You simply need to be Presentable, courteous,Knowledgeable, and show some Respect for the Potential Buyer. For example : I am an Excellent Salesman, and I have been Married and Divorced 5 times! I am Not Good at Relationships, but I can be Professional enough to sell Any Product!
