Is being a real estate agent still a good career choice?

I have a current consulting operation that pays very well. The real estate is something I would like to do when I semi-retire in a few years. I love people and I love houses, am very good at business. However, without really understanding the real estate occupation, I am not clear if it will still be something worthwhile to pursue. I know markets go up and markets go down… Florida is really suffering right now and not sure how long it will be a problem. I wanted to go ahead and take the classes and get my license in the next 6 months. Any words of wisdom from anyone in the field?

The real estate “problem” is very real and we are just seeing the tip of the ice berg. I think that you should look at something else. even if there is any good properties, the market is so saturated with lenders and agents that you will never get the deal.
