What State are you in?
Generally you need to obtain a certain amount of real estate education from an accredited real estate school. Anywhere from 6 to 9 classes
You have to find a real estate broker who will sponsor you, and you also have to take the state exam and pass it.
Just FYI, real estate is slow right now and most real estate agents work on commissions only, so getting in now and doing this full time may not be the best idea. I would suggest you get your license and practice part time. Once things pick up you can have your feet wet and hit the ground running and can leave whatever job you are working at to pursue a full time job as a real estate agent.

Contact your state board of real estate or similar governmental department. Real estate agents are state licensed and usually require a certain number of hours and the corresponding tests passed for obtaining a license. Real estate schools shouldn’t be hard to find.
The market is slow and to practice as an agent you’ll need a brokerage. Brokerages are less likely to retain new “green” agents that are less apt to sell anything, especially when conditions are lean.
Doesn’t mean you can’t do it. Takes some dedication, but it can be done.
