I finally took the state exam and passed it this year. I received all thge documents i now need to fill out and submit, they also require me to send in the transcript for real estate principles. However, will it be a problem that i took the class a couple of years ago? My question is, how many years after i finish the real estate principles class can i take the state exam?

You really should ask the Real Estate Commission of your state by going to their web site. You can find their web site in your state name category by going to However you could also check this link from our research department and see if they have any of the requirements for your state
Real Estate Educators Association (REEA) includes search for real estate schools:

In California..which I think is where you live..There is no limitation on the number of times you may re-take the examination within the two-year period following the date the DRE received your original examination application. However, if you wish to take re-take the examination after the two-year period, you will be required to submit a new application and fee as
Apply to re-take
the exam using

So it looks like 2 years.
