How much do real estate auctioneers get paid?

Jason asked:
If I were to run a real estate auction in the U.S., and took care of all marketing, the auction venue, registering people, closing the transaction, etc. and just needed to hire the person yelling "50, do I hear 50? 75? Going once..." - how much should that person be compensated? If I have a real estate license and I'm organizing the auction, does the auctioneer need a real estate license?
